Default Two Piece Timing cover

Anyone have any experience with these?

Who makes them?

Do they leak?

I installed the QTP (sponsor) 2 piece on my GTO. I had a clearance issue with the back of the water pump hitting the front of the upper QTP piece. QTP knew this was a possibility and warned me of it when I bought the cover. I simply took the cover over to a machine shop and had them mill off the part that was interferring. The Guys at QTP are great and took care of me. The new production runs should have this all sorted out.

have not had any leakage issue, nothing in there under oil pressure! will make future cam changes a snap!!

Will the ATI damper pulley fit? It looks like the QTP is made to be used with their oil pump, will it work with the stock pump?
Anyone else make one?

You can use your stock pump. They dont leak. Just need to modify the cover if you have a C5 ATI pulley with the 10% AC underdrive only.

Current batch is changed for the later model water pumps.

You guys were great to work with....you were upfront with the possibile interference.....not all aftermarket suppliers "share" known "issues" with their clients!!

I highly recommend QTP to anyone looking into their products

I agree, I have QTP headers and like them very much. I am sure that the cover is of equal quality, the only reason I question it is because it looks like its built around the bigger oil pump and it looks like the pulley would be a problem. What mods have to be done to use the ATI?

I used the OEM oil pump, a fluidamper and the ATI procharger pulley bolted to the fluidampr. I had zero issues other than what I noted earlier. I can't imagine there would be an issue with the balancer, but give them a call and sort it out....just have your credit card handy when you place the call.

That’s the problem, that credit card comes out too often

We have had a few customers use this cover and haven't heard anything but good things about them.

George,

Based on the photo on the QTP web site, the bosses at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions where the oil pump is may be the interference points. I would give Barry a call and confirm. If that is the location, and the thickness is there you can likely remove them.

Bob, I will call Barry, I tried today but he was busy. The other option is to cut a stock one, but I am still looking into that.

I have the qtp cover and oil pump on my 2004 z06 the cover doesn't leak at all, very well built . i did have a prob where i had to hog the bottom oil pan holes to the left about 1/32, and had to grind a little off the inside edge of the cover where it hit the right edge of the pump. i was using a digital set of calipers to center the oil seal. i think there may be some variables in the holes for the pan. up & down was great, left to right was off, glad i checked it before trying to get bolts started

Nasty has a different version made from an OEM cover, and BTW, Thunder has the QTP cover on sale.

I did see that photo. Looks great but how ironic would it be that you would have to pull the rack and pulley because your cut in the cover leaks oil. They say it works though
