Default PRC 5.3L (S) 2.5's or Patriot Ls6 Heads

I decided to keep my car and add some bigger heads to the mix. Which heads would produce better gains with my FMS 226/226/ 575/ 575 114lsa. I see both have them assembled with springs and all for a great price. I havent seen any Dyno/track #'s with the new Patriot heads yet and I have seen some #'s from the PRC's from mid summer which were not bad. I'd say most were 415 to 425rwhp. Any help would be great guys.
Thanks,
Matt

If you're staying with this cam and do not plan on going bigger then PP 243 option would be better milled for desired SCR.
If you plan on going bigger, the either is a good buy. Just make sure if yoy get PP heads to order them with Ferrea valves.

Why would you mill the PP 243 head and loose p/v clearance (you can never have enough on an M6 car) when PP has the 6L head welded to any cc size you want? I am form follows function...I guess I just don't get the "gotta have LS2/6 heads."

I will be staying with the F4 cam. Sucks cause both are a great price so it makes it hard cause I have no dyno #'s from anyone that has gotten the PP Ls6 heads.

Some of us are weary of welded chambered ls6 style heads from the Patriot fiasco of a couple years ago. Seems like things are fine now.

Bad things to a few users customers. LQ9 "LS6" heads with welded chambers had a few problems w/ valve seats, dropped valves, etc. Not talked about much anymore and threads were deleted.
QC seems to have fixed things since then. Seems like they're running a top notch organization with quality products for the price.

So is that why people prefer the LS2 based heads over the LS6 ones? And what's the difference between the two?

LS6 and LS2 heads are GM 243 castings. Same head.

Patriot markets its "LS6 Style" head which is a GM LQ9 6.0L truck head with welded chambers which reduce chamber size (along with milling). I don't know how many people purchase them thinking they're buying real ls6 heads, but the marketing campaign seems to work.

True 243 casting LS6 have the same port design as the 6.0 but different chamber size.
So that is why they are maketed as LS6 style.

For 1195 I would jump on the PP LS6 style heads all day. Keep all the clearance of a stock height head with any size chamber you want. Im looking at the LS6 style heads myself with probably 2.02's. I already have 1st hand knowledge that their customer service cant be beat by anyone which goes a long way with me.

Cool..........thanks for the education! I appreciate it. So if you were looking for great HP out of a high compression setup running on pump gas, what heads would you go with and why?

I am runing the PP LS6 Style and have been really happy with them. I bought them knowning they weren't LS6 heads and adressed my issues with Gunnar about the past. I have beat the **** out the car since I have had these (going on a year now) and haven't had one problem. While I don't have any dyno times, I can say that the car runs great at the track.

their the regular stage 2.5 heads i asked prc and they said the R version was just polished and really could oly add 1-2 cfm so was really just for looks .... as afar as valves their using regular 2.04 setup but they ressess the valves so you dont have any ptv issues..

in another post someone was warning about possible dcr issues but tsp said they dont think it would be an issue (although i never really recieved a call back form jason with a full explination)
