Default Help!! Is there a gasket....

Is there supposed to be a gasket between the oil pump and cylinder block? I'll give reasons as soon as I figure out if there is supposed to be one or not. Thanks!

So the pump bolts to the block with nothing in between? Weird, but ok. I'm disassembling an engine, found rod bearings worn out, a couple lifter rollers scored, and the crank scored as well. Just trying to figure out what happened. Some flakes of stuff embedded in the rod bearings. Oh well, guess I need a complete rebuild.
