Default need help with lifters

i am going to put an f13 in may car this month and i wanted to swap lifters while im in there. I can get them locally for 107.00 for the set but they are saying that they are Johnson lifters. Are the lifters good enough or do i need to look for a better set.

Never heard of johnson lifters. Futral sells melling lifters for 165 for the set, and atleast theyre tried and true.

unless youre swapping your heads as well this month, you wont necessarily "be in there". Youve got to take the heads off to replace the lifters. Things are not the same as old SBC motors.

im going to swap the intake so i figure i will pull the valley cover and swap the lifter since the motor has about 85k miles and i have a slight ticking noise that sound like a weak lifter.

Youre missing the point. The lifters are not located under the valley cover. They are located under the heads. Take youre car to a shop that specializes in LSx motors. Im gonna bet the noise you think is a weak lifter is nothing more than a little piston slap.

Actually, to get them out, just push down on a pushrod and itll fall into the oil pan. Its putting it back in that requires puling the head. Plus dropping the oil pan isnt much fun either.

are you sure about this?
Im pretty darn sure...

If there was an easier way to fix this, believe me, I would have done it the easy way.
