Make sure the magnet tips are all secure. Don't want one breaking off.

TDC aint got nothing to do with holding lifters up, just tje valves.

Dude screw those magnets, thats a stupid idea. Go get you a 4' piece of 5/16 wooden dowel rod and cut it in half and stick it in the holes in the block.

I'd make custom rods to hold up the lifters. That's what I did and it's so much easier and safer IMO. Do a search for it.

Ummm...He is asking about a heads/cam swap. What do you need pen magnets for? If he's pulling the heads, he doesn't need the magnets for the lifters.
For just a cam/spring swap, I use unsanded 5/16" dowels, and TDC for the springs. But if you're doing the heads, none of that's necessary.

Man did I have a brain fart....
Sorry about that....

My cam swap was a simple affair, used the dowels as I didnt trust the retainers, and the TDC method to ensure the valves didn't drop (too far) during the spring swap.

That's what I was thinking too. Since the heads will be off, can't he just remove the lifters and not worry about them falling? No need to buy pen magnets or the dowel rods...
