Default Please help, Oil pressure question?

I have 2000 TA with 126000 miles. For the first 20 - 30 minutes that I drive my car, the oil pressure gage is close to tapped out (max). Afterwards will gradually calm down to a little over the halfway mark as long as I am in 6th gear. Otherwise the needle will sit at about 3/4. And of course during WOT, it will pretty much max out. Is this a problem? If so, what do I need to fix it. I would like to go get my car dyno'd soon but am concerned that I might mess something up with the oil pressureb staying high.

as long as its always been like that you're ok. If it just started doing that then there might be a problem.

It has gradually increased over the years. I have had it for a little over 3 years. I bought it with 26000 miles on it. It use to stay around 55 - 60 psi while driving it. But since hitting 100000 miles it's slowly increased over time. I replaced the sending unit back in November and that seemed to have fixed it for a little while, however, it has since gone back up.

What kind of oil are you using. That will make a good bit a difference in pressure. Mine is about 70 on start up and 75 or so cruising below 2000 when it's cold. Once it warms up fully I'll idle a little over 40psi and cruise around 60psi. Using Mobil 1 5w30.

That sounds about right. Around 100000 miles I switched over to Mobile 1 Synthetic. I'm not positive on the weight since I am in the dealerships computer database they know what I want in the car and they no longer ask me. However, I do believe it is 5w-30.

Was looking for a thread like this. Have a similar issue as well. Oil pressure in my car is 60psi at idle on startup, and even after letting engine warmup 5 minutes, oil pressure still comes close to 80psi under normal acceleration. I bought the car new, and it has had synthetic since 1500 miles. M1 until 8k, then RP since. Car has 80k on it now.
