Default Which 224/224 Cam??

Just brought home my new stage II LS6 style heads and need to order a cam. The Patriot golds are too much for my 216/220, so I thought I'd rather swap cams instead of springs. I want to get a 224/224, but don't know which one to buy. Off the top of my head, I know that TR, TSP and Comp sell one. Which one has the better valve events? I know they are all very much alike, but is there a best one. I don't think I want the 224R, because of the shortened spring life with the XE-R lobes. Any thoughts?

Crane has one too, I have one waiting to install. Very interested in seeing how it turns out performance wise - seems not many people have one at all.

O.K., so there are alot of them. Are they all equal? Has anyone with good valve event knowledge analyzed the off the shelf 224 cams? Is there a favorite?

Seems the TR 224 is popular. Same with TSP. Mines more of an experiment.

I think the only differences in them are the lifts.

I suppose I could always go with the TSP 224/224 .581/.581 for a little more bang. I don't think I'd get 25K out of the springs though, like I would the TR 224.

Yea, there's really not a whole lot of difference. I have a TR224 and like it but am planning on going larger. It's a nice little cam that has good torque but still pulls harder than a stock cam through the powerband. Just look at some of the specs on the different ones and see what spes fits your needs and what your looking for in your setup.

I too have PP stg 2 heads, I am going with Futral's F13 112 (230/232 .591/.581 112) If I get it in before Friday, its going in this weekend. Why only 224?

Trying to be sniffer compliant. I would like to go a little bigger though. The biggest I could probably go would be something like a 224/227, but I don't think the power gain over a 224 would justify the borderline smogeability. Now if I lived in Idaho or something, it would be a different story.

I have a crane 224/224 but had more lift ground into the cam. I have 576/576 lift on the cam, a friend had it ground for me since he know some people at crane. I love the cam. I am about to throw on a set of Dart 225 should have those on in a month or two. From my research and talken to some very knowledgable people, my cam should be good with those heads. Get it and you will love it, a larger cam may only make 10hp more but the 224 may be more streetable and wont have to rev as high to make the power. It really all depends on what you goal of the vehicle is. Mine is to have good H/C car and i like cruising and car show. I am not all out drag. Hope that helps.
peace rob
