Default How many people have used the TSP Torquer V2?

Just wondering. I am torn between the 224R, 228R, and Torquer. I would hate to throw the 224r in and want more cam after all the work. Does the torquer make a good DD cam? I will tune with my VHP tuner at a dyno. Right now i get 28mpg, the torquer wont make it drink like a suburban will it? I've heard the torquer v1 before and it does sound pretty smooth for the size. Never heard the torquer 2.

Im looking to stay in the 1800 to 6500 rpm range.

im pretty sure the torquer v.2 will have a power band starting higher than 1800 rpm. if you want that you will need to stay with the 224. i have a 228/232 and i drive my car at least 300mi a week and still get over 25mpg at 80mph.

Lots of people run the Torque v2 and are very happy with the results. Not sure if that will kick in as early at 1800 though. It'll probably have a power band thats closer to 2200-6800.
As for gas mileage, once its tuned you won't lose much mpg on the highway. Around town your mileage will probably take a turn for the worse though.
I got ~21city to ~29hwy. Now I'm getting ~16city to about ~27hwy.

Ive been daily driving my new torquer 2 derivitive (and heads) for a few days now. Im still driving it on my old f13 tune. So far I love this cam. Its true that the power might take a little more than 1800 to come on, but you dont need to spin too high up top.

If you want to keep the power strong at 1800, consider a cam that you shift at 6300.

Something like a 224/228 111 109 would probably work with your combo.

I just put mine in this weekend and I am happy with it. I really can't wait to get a tune though and see what it feels like. It does sound very good without a tune though

Well, you know i like the sound of this. I DONT want to spin my motor very high (go 98 block!), and i wasnt dead set on 1800. TSP says 1800-6400 RPM Power Band, but we all know what advertisements are. Did you know that a smooth bellows will add 15 hp? (give me a break)

What lsa are yall using? 114 sounds like its what i want, but if everyone says 113 or 112 with solid yes then ill go that route.

Im wondering how close my vhp tuner will get me to where i need to be as far as a tune? It lets me adjust idle fuel in 10% incriments, which is only like 3* at a time, so its fairly close. There is a dyno about a mile from my house. When i get it all together with the mods in the sig and an ls6 intake ill post my numbers.

I've never dynoed before. Are there numbers that you go by to say "well, it looks here that we need to advance the timing a little more"? I know the wideband will say too lean to rich.

With an m6 go with the 112lsa. It'll give you alil more lope, and it moves the powerband down in the rpm's so your power will set in alil earlier than it would if it was set on a 114. You will also net higher max HP than you would with the 114 as well.

Oh i might just have to go 112. I bet it just sounds nasty as hell! Right now my car is pretty quiet. The Borla Mouth and TSP catted y really sounds good, but pretty quiet. I just wonder how it will sound all cammed. Now, is the 112 as friendly as the 113 or 114? OR does all of this really matter with a tune. I swear, from what i have read it almost sounds like you can make the car act like its stock as long as it has a good tune.

GuitsBoy, Why did you switch out your F13? I was thinking of going with the F14 myself. Thanks

It'll be fine once tuned, I'm running a 111lsa and I have no problems whatsoever.

good to know, thanks for all the help. I used to say that i was getting a 224 cam, but now im sure im getting the torquerv2. Im still a little undecided on the lsa though. I dont want it to be loping like a trex or ms3, so maybe 113? I dunno. I need to research and listen more and more. Its a big decision though, because its the true brain of the engine.

Youll be fine with a 112, you can just raise the idle a touch if you dont want it to lope as much, you are running through cats and a catback so it wont be as noticeable. Anyone running the TQer II with 918's? Im planning on it.

Then why are you trying to force a particular off the shelf cam into meeting your needs. Firm up your expectations and goals and pick a cam to match it, rather than picking a cam and wondering if it matches.

Decide exactly where you want to shift and where you need power to begin. From that you decide the specs.

I noticed the power range first thing in the advertisement. It seems that most of the big cams are meant for high rpms. I was merely asking what everyone thought about it, and if they had good luck with it. You dont learn anything without asking, do you? What the manufacturer says vs what the people who have used it often times differs. When i said that i dont want to spin my motor very high, what i meant was im not looking for a 7000 rpm set up. Now wouldnt you say that this is still within the specs that i am looking for? Well yeah. Im not trying to make an off the shelf cam do what i want it to do. I was asking "hey, whats it REALLY do?"

Im not particular about weather a cam comes in at 1900 instead of 1800, or 2000 instead of 1800. I just dont want to get a cam that sucks to drive around town because you have to wind it up to 3000 to get it to move. Hell, i dont race at the track but about once a year, and most of the time i step on it at about 2500 rpms. The only reason that i am concerned about spinning it real high is because i just dont want to tear it up. High-side motors sount MEAN though. In the future i will be running 4.10s
