Unhappy YA! New cam = collapsed lifter!

Got the cam in and put her on the dyno...during break in we lost a lifter.

Sucks...but thats the game.

Guys, if you do a cam...do the lifters at the same time. It really sucks having to tear it all down agian.

Not to sound like a dick, but why make a post like that without any other info. All we know it could be a 1984 K-Car...

F-that! You have remove the heads to put new lifters. The OEM lifters are pretty strong and can certainly handle a cam only car. How many miles are on the motors and what pushrods did you use?

What noises does it make? Is the sound constant?

All the 01+ cars ive seen have NON encapsulated lifters. The earlier ones had the fully encapsulated lifters in my experience anyway.

I replaced with mellings which were encapsulated.

Yeah, I just did my heads and the lifters I pulled out were exactly the same as the comp 850's I replaced them with. Even with 90 thousand mile they had almost no wear at all. What a waste of $200.

Tell me, I did the same thing, it was the only excuse I needed to do heads though.
