Default My F13 ate my lifters...

F13 Cam, PRC Dual Spring Kit, CM 7.400" Pushrods, stock lifters.

Just pulled the whole engine apart today after a ticking noise. This is what I found with only 13k on the new valvetrain. I hope Futral will take this back and replace it...I believe this is a similar case from another thread where the cam's finishing process wasnt completed or something.

Nine of the 16 lifters had some part of metal missing from the roller, whereas the rest had some irregular markings and wear patterns. The lifter in the first picture actually cut into the lobe on the cam, you can actually grab ahold of the lip with your finger nail...thats how deep it is.

56k beware...they are 800 pixels wide for detail.

In that 3rd picture I see that you have some ridges or grooves in the finish of your cam lobes. The evidence is mounting....

DAMNIT! I am really getting leary of putting one of these cams in my mechanically sound, perfectly running 36k engine after all this trouble as of late. As much as I wanted to get a F14, I might have to go back to TSP and get the torquerII. I had no problems with the TSP 225 in my previous car......

SOMEONE get to the bottom of this....PLEASE.

Bought in April '05 and installed the following month. Like I said, I'll be calling Futral tomorrow to see what they will do about this, if anything.

its not Futral's fault, they didn't grind the cam.
They are Cam Motion grinds.

But since it has Futral's name on it, they should be held liable if it does turn out to be a cam problem. When you buy shoes at Foot Locker and they're defective, do you take them back to Foot Locker or send them to straight to Nike?

It's not just Futral. My Comp started eating mine at 8k. I was lucky and caught it early. I think there is more to it than just the cam hardness, etc.

What's interesting in those photo's is the difference between the lobes. Some appear very bad while others are not. I would check the springs on all the cylinders and see if there is any correlation between spring seat and open pressure and those lobes that appear to be bad. Check the entire valve train. Wondering if the cam and rollers are the problem or a symptom of something else that might be wrong.
