Default clutch pedal drops to floor

hey guys in my 98 z28. when i sometimes take off hard and shift gears like in a drag race type of hard, the pedal will just slump to the floor. takes a few seconds to gain back pressure. what could cause this issue? feels like not all the pressure is getting down thier or something.

Not sure on z28s but vettes do the same due to the slave cyclinder and old fluid. On my z06 I have to change the fluid for my clutch all the time or I have the same problem.

You might want to try posting in the Manual Transmission section about this for better results.

But anyway, this is due to you having a stock clutch. You get a Spec 3 or 4 or Ram or Centerforce...that kinda crap wont happen. you will get neck snapping results, and if you are lucky, a broken rear end or transmission.

As mentioned, this should be in the Manual section. I've finally fixed this and it was by doing the following:

1) 01 slave (bled clutch) - didn't fix it
2) Ram Adjustable Master Cylinder (set to stock length) and drill mod - didn't fix it
3) Bench bled - didn't fix it
4) Bled whole thing again - didn't fix it
5) Adjusted Master Cylinder to be a little less than a 1/4 inch closer engine. - made it worse
6) Adjusted Master Cylinder to be about 1/8 inch closer to the rear of the car. FIXED IT FINALLY

*the key for me was the Adjustable Master Cylinder. Note I still have my stock clutch.

would this be a heat issue? maybe some heat wrap could help it?

It may or may not help, but can't hurt. I've got the updated slave in my 98, and I've got a sticking clutch also.

From my experience, your best bet is getting an adjustable master cylinder and making it slightly longer than stock. You can make the stock one adjustable too. While your doing this mod, a good bench bleed is important too.

I'm telling you guys, I spent a good amount of time dealing with this problem and FINALLY fixed it by making the adjustable master cylinder slightly longer. Other changes I have is the drill mod and an 01-02 slave, but the adjustable MC should do the trick.
