Default Took my heads off to inspect F13/lifters

And found nothing unusal. My cam was delivered to me in early May and came from core #3310100. My car has the infamous blower whine ever since I installed this cam, which still remains a mystery to me. I'm using stock pushrods with Comp 918 springs. The only difference I might have from most is I have true LS6 heads w/ lightweight LS6 valves. My lifter trays were numbers 5, 7, and 15.

I'm not a lifter expert by any means, but the wear seems normal.

Good to see. Im sure most of the f-13's out there do not have a problem. Its limited to a few cams. One question though, im not sure if you pulled the cam out of the block or not, but can you take a close look at the lobes and see if you have any small grooves or tooling marks like I have or are they polished smooth?

Mine has a slight whine to it but its settled down quite a bit since break-in of the motor.

I've seen a few F cams have issues but I think its more of an issue of needing to replace lifters than the actual cam itself failing. These cams have some pretty fast-ramp lobes in certain parts of its profile and really needs to be run w/a set of aftermarket lifters. I have 850-16s in my car fwiw.

I have the Same Core #. How many miles on that set up?

Are you going to drill your lifter trays before you put it back in??

Can't really tell from the pic but your lifters look to be developing some type of wear pattern. I can only compare them to my stock lifters when I had my heads off. They looked new. I swapped out the stock cam at 4K miles and swapped the heads at 19K so they had seen some use. The whistling sound tells me something is amiss. A properly setup LS1 should not have a whistle. Why don't Comp, Crane or Lunati cams whistle?

BTW when you reinstall everything try using a longer P rod.
That might quite things down a little.

So are those lines in the rollers not signs of normal wear? They're all symetrical and the cam lobes look ok from what I can see.

I can barely feel the lines. Most of them have an even line going around them, but a few have some minor scuffing I guess you could say. Looks like they'll need to be replaced

I really don't have time to pull the cam so I'm kind of pissed off right now. If it turns out that this core was the bad one, I don't know what I'm going to do. Either way, I'll never buy from FMS or Cam Motion again.

I'm not saying it's bad but I would look into having some one look at them in person at a engine shop or something along those lines, you really shouldn't be able to feel anything. Sorry dude

My stock lifters after 20,000 miles with a comp XER, looked like mirrors. Id pull that cam out since you already have the engine apart and go with one without known issues. Get futral to replace it throw some new lifters in and never look back. Everyone has bad luck sometimes, but it would REALLY suck to put the engine back together now, only to have to pull it down if a few more thousand miles.

I wish it was that easy but I highly doubt FMS would throw in a set of new lifters. I don't know what I'm going to do right now.

New lifters aren't expensive even if they dont. Just dont reuse scarred lifters with a new cam or you will soon be in the same shape.

I agree, at this point, what the hell? You have the engine apart, and that's the big deal. I would gladly install new lifters for $100 and change and not even blink. If in doubt, I would also do the cam.
