Default Doing something new...

Well im looking into building a 6.0 ls1...I was going to do a carb deal with the 2908 victor intake and like a 850 carb....The intake kit comes with a spark box to drive the coil packs and comes with a few different maps for timing curves. The car is a 3500 lbs t350 3.73 and a 4500 converter, what cams work well for n/a with some bottle...Going to do some minor head work and comp will be 10.5 to 1....I have built many standard small blocks but you guys have flogged the ls1 and know what works...Will rpm it to 6500 7000 so thats my limit...Its going to be a street thrasher and idle doesnt matter to me,i drove this car with a 780 roller big block before so idle quality isnt a issue...Thanks in advance for the help guys...

You never asked a question so what are you expecting us to say? I am curious why you want to use an outdated antique part, the carb, on a modern engine. It's the computer, constantly varying everything that makes the LS series engines so easy to live with and yet make such good horsepower. What make/model car are you putting it in?

Sorry I missed that. To offer any decent advice on a cam we need more info. I would suggest something in the 230 to 240 degree duration range with lifts in the low .600s. Nitrous seems to prefer cams with more exhaust duration than intake duration. Also, keep the overlap down with nitrous. I am running a 232/240 .595/.609 on a 112 in a .030 over 6 liter block. The car weighs about 4000 pounds with me in it yet still manages to run 6.7s in the eighth mile with a little bit of nitrous urging it on. Shift points are set low at 6500 rpm. Good luck with your selection.

Thanks for the info thats what i was thinking...620 range lift 234 244 on a 110 or 112...the 850 will work perfect for when its on the bottle and just a tad big on the motor but it has plenty of converter and 3.73 gears in a 3400lbs car so it should work well....DOes anyone make a off the shelf cam to that spec or do i need to get a custom ground...

This is the car it will be going into...

Yeah, but did you plan on using nitrous for more than 5% of the time the car is running? That was how I was determining the carb size. Why do you need such a wide split on the cam? You must be planning a deep shot size on this thing!

ya atleast 200 upto 400...I have a double cross twin cheater plate, will flow upto 500hp....Also the intake flows alot better then the exhaust and im crutching it to make up for the lack of exhaust flow...The carb has booster venturis so it acts smaller then it is,i had it on a 383 and it worked great...
