Default callies compstar rods dissapointing

it looks to me that i got a cast rod and not a forged rod....

they are a dull color and there are no machining or tool marks

these POS better hold up to some abuse or i will be angry.

They are in my 434 and Erik of HK Enterprises felt very confident in them. I'm sure if you assemble the motor correctly they will hold up just fine.

Forging simply means that the metal cools while under pressure, so its a denser material. Just because it hasnt been machines does not mean its not a forged piece.

Actually that is incorrect. Forging is heating the metal up to forge temp, forming/shaping it under intense pressure in a forge die, then usually letting it air cool.

In our forge shop we make bulldozer tracks. Pretty neat that they start off as a 6x6 piece of square bar stock.

Sorry, thats more correct. I just mean to convey that forgings will have a rough surface if they have not been machined.

I highly recommend the Callies Compstar rods. For the money, they are really hard to beat. I have used about of dozen of these over the past few months with great luck.

Another nod for the Compstar rod. Great piece and for the price nothing else compares. I especially like the upgraded rob bolts and lower shoulder on the rods. It really make stroker clearancing easier.

you wont see tool marks because alot of times the rods are shot peened afterwards... the Compstars looks like a set of 2000 dollar Carrillio's

well I can tell you this, I have been dealing with the Callies/Compstar program manager for a number of years, he knows his stuff and is very meticulous. We have discussed using these rods in different high HP applications with him AND have put these rods to the test.
We have the Callies Compstar rods in a number of FI and N2O setups with no worries, use them
