Thinking of doing Z06 cam swap.
Doing headers are too invovled and expensive for what I need to buy. And I really don't wan the extra noise.
So I want to do a 02 Z06 cam swap. I know I need valve springs from the z06 as well. My question to you guys are, what else would I need, timing chain?, what seals? etc.
Also, it looks like finding one used is next to impossible, so where would be the best place to buy say a kit for the 02 z06 cam swap, and if there is not a kit, where to buy all the parts individually.
Also I heard I need push rods, does anyone know which ones I need?
And if you know part numbers you are the man!

With headers, I want to go stainless because of where I live, and get the catted stainless y. So 800+500 = 1300 + shipping. Then I have to grind my block and cut my K member. For about 20-25whp? Just doesnt make sense to me.

That is a whole kit:
LS6 Z06 Camshaft Kit, for 1999-02 LS1 Engines
The SDPC LS6 Camshaft Kit makes your cam swap easy and painless. We include the GM LS6 camshaft (204/218 dur @ 0.050 and 0.550/0.550 lift), SD1423 valve spring kit with titanium retainers, Manley pushrods (7.450), Rollmaster double roller timing set plus all necessary gasket and seals and a new balancer bolt
If you want something cheap, I can send you a Comp cam sticker free of charge

I found some threads on here that the 02 z06 cam swap got the 35whp.
Say if I buy the cam and springs used, can I just use the stock retainers? And buy the longer push rods?
No place cheaper eh?
The main reason why I I am comparing to the package that AZ sound and power has for their ls2 cam package.
LS2 camshaft (used with minimal mileage)
LS2 valvesprings and retainers (also used)
LS2 front cover
LS2 timing gear and new LS2 Heavy Duty timing chain
Cam position sensor
new front cover gasket and crank seal
All that for 350 shipped.

I wouldn't buy used springs.
so shop around:
Used Cam
New 02 LS6 springs
LS2 T-chain
Front seal
7.45 p-rods
Crank bolt
+
Tools
+
Fluids
+
Tune
So if you want best bang for buck, look at something other than cam, like nitrous.

Try corvetteforum.com for a used LS6 cam/springs set. A couple of years ago I bought a LS6 cam/springs for $150 used over there. I drove it for 2 years and sold it to someone (who had no problems as well).

i have an '02 ls6 cam. i did not change springs, push rods, timing chain, or oil pump. i just bought the cam and put it in. i want to go bigger now, so mine might be for sale soon. I did the ls6 intake and cam at the same time. i dynoed 321 before those two. then when i dynoed with them i only put down 333 and lost some tq. i think if you do the intake/cam swap, the headers are necessary. i bet headers/duals would give me 30rwhp.

I loved that cam. I still think it's the best bang for buck sleeper cam out there.
With MAC headers, lid, LS6 cam, LS6 intake and a Yank Y3200 the car dyno'd 348 rwhp unlocked. Best ET was 12.49 @ 109 mph in hot weather with Nitto Dr's. What people tend to forget about the LS6 cam is how strong it pulls up top. Mine peaked around 6000 and held that nearly flat to 6500 rpms. A direct comparison between stock and the LS6 cam reveals a whole lot. There was a 52 rwhp difference at 6300 rpms between the two. You have to rev the LS6 cam to 6500 rpms to take advantage of the power. Don't be scared to spin it.

And I am just getting into the cam thing, so I have no idea what a TR224 563/563 on a lsa114 is.

yeah i stopped the dyno pull at about 6200 so i guess i next time i go for a tune i should spin to around 65 and see how it goes. i have 30lbers to install so i need a new tune anyway. btw this car went 12.6 @106 with 296 rwhp.
