New H/C Package
I will be ordering a H/C package from Texas Speed in a few days. I will be getting
MS4
PRC Stage 1 heads
Dual Spring kit with titanium seals, seats and retainers
ARP Crank Pulley Bolt
GM H/C gasket kit
Motive 4.10's
Ratech Install Kit
I think thats it.
I will be doing the H/C swap myself, and having the gears installed with my tuner. Is 400$ too much for a gear install and full dyno tune?
Is there anything else that I have forgotten to get that anyone can think of?? Thanks for any advice??

I think $400 is a good price for the gear install and tune. I agree with MISERICORDIA about the compression. You will be leaving some power on the table by not milling the heads and running a .040 gasket. Granted, if you do this you will need to flycut the pistons but it will be worth it in the long run. You will pick up some peak numbers and gain power everywhere in your RPMS. If you do not do it now, you will probably end up doing it later. Just my opinions, have fun!

The specs on the MS4 are 239/242 .649"/.610", 111lsa.
I just talk to TSP and they said that they sink that valves a little deeper into the heads. Also something about using a spacer under the springs to raise everything so that there are no clearance issues. Dont quote me on the spring spacer, but I know that they sink the valves a little deeper. I am still learning this, so bare with me.
He said that the Compression is 10 3/4:1

Look at the PRC 200cc Terminator Heads, too. The 62cc chambers will give better compression without a loss in PtV clearance; flows similar to the AFR 205s; has a small, high velocity port; and is only a few hundred bucks over the LS6s. $1899 vs $1249 if optioned with the PRC Dual Springs.

Are these the LS6 style heads or the 5.3 heads? Then we can figure out how to get your DCR in range with milling or a thinner gasket or both.
Those Terminator heads are tempting.

I'm not sure what lobe the MS4 is on but the .006 duration is proly about 289. If the gasket compresses to .052 and the cam has an LSA of 111 with no advance then that puts you at 10.68 for your SCR (about what Texas Speed was saying) and ~7.74 for your DCR using PianoProdigy's spreadsheet. I'm no expert so I may just be wrong on those numbers but I think you need to get your DCR higher. Using a .04 head gasket will bring you up to 11 SCR and 7.96 DCR. From there mill the heads until you are at the right DCR for the octane you plan on running.
Hopefully someone else will chime in.
