Default Head Gaskets

I am about to do a head swap and i need to know what kind of gaskets to get and also what thickness to get. I have a 232/236 595/601 on a 112+2 cam on a XE-R lobe I am going to put Patriot Ported 232 castings with stock valve sizes. I think stock thickness is 055, so what thickness can I get away with. I would like to run thinner gaskets to up the compression a little. I would appreciate any help.

Thanks

Why not just run the MLS type and get the heads shaved .010-.020?

What is the mls type? I am not against decking, I just don't want to have a problem with pvc. Baisically I just want to get compression as high as I can without flycutting.

I have been running the MLS style in both cars for a long time now. One with .010 and 244/248 cam and one with 6.0L (305) casting heads and no milling on a 224/230 cam.

Also wondering what head gaskets to use. I don't have to worry about PTV clearance but I might spray it.

I've got a set of .040 Cometic still wrapped that I didn't use. They are also MLS construction. Let me know if you want them.

if you ever plan to spray, use cometic. If not, its really a moot point. I dont remember the last time an LS1 with heads/cam/or stock naturally aspirated came into the shop with a blown head gasket, and ALOT of f bodies come through the shop.
