or would it be easiest to leave pan on and drill and tap it while installed? What do you guys think? Pan needs to be drilled and tapped, best way?

You have 1,940 and forgot about the search button? Wow!!

Why does it need to be tapped? Unless your 100% sure you will keep 100% shavings outta the pan, I would take it off.

the best way, but definitely not the easiest, is to drop the k-member. that give you full access to the pan and won't have to work around anything.

When I removed the oil pan on the wifes car to replace the rod bolts I dropped the K-member a little bit. I didn't completely drop it though. But it was a bit of a pain to get the motor mounts lined back up again, then again that could have just been me though.

All in all though, another vote for dropping the K-member.

Sorry for the psuedo-off-topic question, but I've always heard people refer to dropping the K-member. The few times I've looked at it, it appears that the entire front suspension has to come off to get the K-member off. Is this not the case?

no, leave everything attached...i think there are 3 bolts on either side that connect the k-member itself to the car, along with **** like steering linkage, shock tower, etc...

CHANGE THE ROD BOLTS WHILE THE PAN IS OFF.
