Default broke bolt off in head

well while I'm changing the springs on my car I managed to break a bolt off in the rocker arm mounting hole thanks to my cheap *** crow bar style compresser, is it possible to drill it out with the head on or should I just pull the head?

Depending on which one you broke off, you should be able to get it out with the head on the car...Get you an EZ out...

it's one of the holes that the rocker arm stud goes in on the number one cylinder

get a left handed drill bit, they will usually take something out like that. It should come out pretty easily. If the drill bit doesn't work use the ez-out trick.

I did the same thing on my old heads and I removed the bolt w/ the heads still on the car using a left handed drill bit or a EZ OUT. then heli coiled the new on in and it worked fine

go to autozone and get yourself an easy out set.lay down a rag so you don't get metal shavings in your engine. if you have a file, file the shank of the bolt flat to give you a nice level drilling surface. center punch the center of the bolt. use the largest easy out you can still allowing enough material of the bolt for the easy out to grip. drill, try to use wd-40 or any oil to cool the bit, grab the easy out with vise grips and softley tap with a hammer as you turn.

The good news is that it's number one and when they break like that it's not because the threads are stuck but because you put too much lateral pressure on the bolt, meaning it should come out easily.
