Default Gm head gasket # for 853 with the notch

I have this in another thread but im trying to find out if #12498543 is the right gasket for these heads with the notch. I just want to make sure im getting the right gaskets. Thanks

I have searched but cant get a deffinate awnser for what part number.

SDPC has the one for you sponser------->

97-01 12498543 .056 thickness

I had same issue

yep. I gave you exact number from SDPC parts catalog they have a whole writeup on that issue

Autozone has graphite Mr. gasket headgaskets. They are .042 thick and $40 for the pair. Cant beat it.

Yes, but why would you want to do that to yourself? Get the GM MLS gaskets--12498544 $25 a pair.

Yes they will but the MLS are better. If they made an MLS for 98s then I would buy those. Off topic, your pretty close to me.

Because I want a .04x thick gasket. The cometics are $140 a set.

Yes we are pretty close. Where did you find the specs. on this gasket? Do you know the bore dia.? Did you find a Autozone local that has them in stock?

Thats what i was looking for, but they dont make these. I think the composit should work fine. I just dont want any leaks afterwards.
