Default Lookin to get a new cam! Could use some help!

Hello,
I am thinking of getting a more aggressive cam. Right now I have a custom cam(231/237). I have a set of TSP stage II 59cc LS6 heads with 2.055 intake and 1.69 exhaust. I am lookin for a cam that will be practical to drive on the streets yet give me a boost in hp(this is not a daily dirver although i am going to drive it around town). I was told that by getting a bigger cam I could raise the hp to about 450 at the wheels. Right now I am sitting at 392.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Chris J

Not trying to be a smarta$$ or anything but I would say ask the person that told you that you could get those extra 58 horse with only swapping your cam on which one would do that for you and get back to us on what they say. With the cam you have and everything else being equal, I just don't think you are going to see it.

60 Horse power at the wheels, so that would be around 80 at the crank...That is one serious cam upgrade. Not impossible, but very optimistic.

He did not specify it was whp or chp. I am quessing he said chp. Also he said 50 not 58 or 60.
Just so you know, I bought the car as it sits. I am new to the LS1 powerplant. I am just trying to get some knowlege on how to get more power out of this car. The person I bought the car from said if I were to go to a bigger cam I would see roughly 450hp.

Thanks

yeah,50 more horses may be a stretch.something like the ms3 might get you in the 410-420 range with your current setup but that would be tops unless your tune is off.

Hey, I really wasn't trying to be a smartass. You already have a fairly large cam for a street car. (I'm sure some will disagree with me on this) I just don't see 50 or 60 more horse coming from really any other cam unless as noted above, something is wrong with your tune and then it's really not the cam but the tune.
Do you have all the supporting mods? (LT headers, y or x pipe)
You may see a larger gain with a ported fast 90/90 than a cam swap at this point but that is pricey.
There are a few other things you may want to check into if you are going to swap cams. Find out what your DCR is and base a new cam on trying to get in the 8.3 to 8.4 to 1 range.
Just keep reading on hear and find a local shop to consult. Good luck with whatever you do!
