Gatorback belts - any good? and where to get?
When my belt is cold it makes alot of noise even with a new tensioner on now. The current belt has 4k miles on it. Is anybody running the Gatorbacks? Do you like them? I hear that they may whine at high rpm, is that true? Also, where to buy? The local autoparts stores don't have them. I'm just looking for a quiet belt, whether it's hot or cold.

I know the GTP folks generally say good things about them. They usually go with them after a pulley swap because they are supposed to grip better. I cant speak from personal experience though. If you cant find any info on them over here take a look over at http/www.clubgp.com/forum/

Hey Dave! wassup <- (is this passe' yet?)
Let us know if the belt helps...I tried all kinds
of belt dressing, look at pulleys....etc...still
...chirp...chirp...chirp
I know we talked about this at that "other board" but, you did check to make CERTAIN the chirp isn't coming from the A/C belt like on mine
?
I probably should look into fixing mine. I certainly have the time now.....

I only use gates belts now. My gatorback belt ruined my tensioner. Pulley went bye bye. The only thing left was the bearing, man did that thing get hot. Since gates I have had no problems.

Check and see if the squeak is coming from the accessory drive belt idler pulley. I could put my ear by it and tell that's what it was, got a new pulley from Phoenix and popped it on, and the squeak hasn't been back since.

Hi Rob. its definitely the big belt, if I shoot it with dressing, it stops for a while. guess i'll try another brand. The one I have is "drive rite" which i have never heard of, got it from Thunderracing

just got back from the parts store. They said that "drive rite" is Dayco's economy belt. They said Dayco makes a better/quieter one called a poly-cog, anyway, that's going on tonight...

The Poly-Cog is Daycos version of the Gatorback. It works well. I saw boost levels go up in a GTP by replacing the stock belt with a Poly-cog.
