Default How much lower will engine peak with +2 advance?

Cam is 224/228 XER on 114. Just wondering how much lower peak will move with cam advanced 2 degrees.

Most cams already come with 4 degrees of advanced built in. So are you talking another 2 degrees of advance for a total of 6? Maybe you are thinking of retarding the cam 2 degrees for a total of 2 degress advance? Need more info.

You are talking about two completely different advance mechanics. The advance that is ground into the event timing, and the installed position compared to the ICL. Two different things.

Simple question. Cam is on a 114. I want to advance all VE by 2 degrees..

If cam peak HP normally occurs at let's say 6300, what RPM could I expect my peak HP to be with the cam advanced 2 degrees. Cam will peak earlier, just not sure how much.

Is the 114 the seperation angle or the ICL. 114 for an ICL is kind of late, but if it is the ICL, then an advance to 112 would probably drop peak by 100-200 RPM's depending on other build factors obviously.

I personally don't think it will make a hill of beans difference. Might move it maybe 200rpm down tops. I wouldn't worry to much the intake is holding you back more as far as upper end power goes. Might not be a bad idea to shift the power band down but from what i have seen over the yrs is that 2degree is going to come in with chian slack anyways once it breaks in.

If I may make a suggestion. being that cam is on a 114 ICL, I would advance it alot more than 2 deg.. I would pull it down to about a 109 or 108, and take advantage of some low end grunt. Assuming you have no valve train interferance at that install deg..

I am following the Tony Mamo recipe but wanted to do a 112 LSA, ended up with a 114 LSA instead. Just trying to move power down a bit.

The higher you make the ICL the lower the DCR will go. Take that into consideration.

With Cometic .040 head gasket and AFR's milled .030, SCR is 11.5:1 and DCR is around 8.87 depending on advance.
