L-19 ARP cap screws ?
Hi
i have a new set of Eagle 6.125 ESP H-beam rods for my 346 Blown build up .
Using the stock LS1 Crank and diamond -8.6cc pistons, And D1-sc Procharger on my 01 M6 SS.
OK i keep hearing something about changing the Rod cap screws that came with the Eagle rods.
I think the # on the screw is something like 4070 ?? not sure i forgot.
but anyway why change the screws, are the L-19's stronger ,
how much are they and why didnt Eagle supply them?
thanks for your help

Plus your rods were honed perfectly round with the distortion and "stress" forces created from the original bolts the manufacturer provided you (which as others have mentioned are more than adequate). Technically, the L19 bolts with their different TQ values could cause the rods to become slightly out of round potentially creating another issue with bearing clearance.
The regular Eagle bolts are fine unless you plan on turning 8500 RPMs....and at that point a premium rod should have been in the budget anyway. Rod bolts are more sensitive to RPM than power output....a higher HP motor just puts additional compressive forces on the rod....RPM is what taxes a rod bolt.

If your going to worry, worry about and spend the time sizing all your bearing clearances properly and the other detail related time consuming aspects of the engine build.
You should be fine with the connecting rods...
