Who is making close to 400hp on 224 & bolt-ons only?
Just as the title says. I am wondering who is making close to or just over 400rwhp on a Comp 224 or TR224 + bolt-ons alone. I have a Comp 224 with .581 lift and just about every bolt on except an underdrive pulley, and my car dyno'ed at 383rwhp last week on a dynojet with correction factor of .98. It was still making power when I let off at 6K but it probably would have only gone about 5hp higher or so.

There was a thread not long ago on this topic. A guy wanted to know if he could get 400 rwhp with the TR224 cam and bolt-ons. He got several posters who either have or use to have that setup say he can expect 375-385 rwhp.
Looks to me like you are right in line with those numbers. If you really want to hit the 400 mark with that cam then I would consider some budget heads. Texas Speed & Performance has the PRC heads at a reasonable price and Patriot makes a good budget head as well.
Good luck and TTT for ya.

Sorry, didn't mean to start an old topic up again. If I buy heads I am looking more at the 430hp mark instead of 400. If need be, I will just upgrade the cam to something closer to the .600 lift range. Thanks

Strokers are torque oriented motors for the majority. I am low on tq and high on power. 421rwhp and 378rwtq with that 244/248 cam. I still don't see why you are still almost 20rwhp away from your goal. I have seen a handfull of cars that get 400 with headers/intake/cam. Might be your gears that are robbing some of that "projected" power. Just a thought though.

Well the car does have 115K miles on it. The correction factor was set at .97 on the dyno I was on, and after making two pulls on the dynojet, I looked at the graph and my car was still pulling when I let out of it at 6K. NONE of my friends decided to say anything like "hey, its still making power, take the rpm's higher" or I would have taken it to 6500 or so. It think it might have hit 390 with no correction factor and about 300 more rpm's.
As for you SSMAN, As of last night, you good a pretty good look at the back end of my TA, so you can talk that jive all you want until the cam is actually in the car.

I averaged 394hp on the dyno with a TR224/224 112 cam and full bolt-ons SLP LT's, and a Harris Speed Works tune.Stock heads and stock bottom end.Car even hit 400 on first pull. Car is a daily driver and runs excellent with this cam setup.

LS1 engines are NOT created equal. Some have more leak down than others. Just because you might have the same same setup as a guy who's making 400rwhp, doesn't mean you will. You may have a situation where you'll need another mod or combination of mods to get your desired output. The fun of it all is trying to figure that out. Your close to 400 rwhp. I might suggest a ported TB and that pulley with a dyno run to 6500.
