I don't think this is true. I ran a TR230/224 a few years ago and it was awsome for a DD. Times in sig. Dyno'd 390rwhp with the 10 bolt.

jr are those times with stock heads? i was told that the reverse split pattern would work good with stock ex. ports so with the ported heads it should be ok. this is the first cam i put in a ls motor i'm use to favoring the ex. side in gen 1 smallblocks that's why i wanted to check with you guy's first but i know thunder makes a rev. split and alot of people are using it . anyone else have any experience using a rev. split with stock or ported stock heads? also how would this cam work with a 125 shot?

Yes stock un bolted heads. With all the bolt ons. LS6 int and flp headers were on then. And a cut out opened.
I almost wonder what the 236/230 would do with some decent heads. LOL.

Guys - all the research I've done on reverse split cams points to best results with stock, unported heads; i.e. cam only. If you optimise valve events for an engine with stock heads, headers and good exhaust, you'll find the intake needs more help than the exhaust. This is the exact application for a reverse split. Once you start porting, most focus their efforts on the intake side and the biggest gains come there.
Think of the reverse split as a "crutch" for weak intake flow on a stock head. If your plan is to stay cam only, it will probably give you the best gains with the least compromise in drivability (less overlap, better idle quality). If your plans later include P&P or aftermarket heads, a traditional split is likely better for that combo.

IMO, go 243 heads (maybe even ported, dont waste time with ported 241s) and a much bigger cam. when it gets much warmer im going to be daily driving a G5x3 and a yank 4000 stall . ive driven it a couple thousand miles and its not that bad honestly
