Default Afr 225 Recall?

I have a buddy of mine that just got off the phone with AFR and said that his 225's are being recalled...We are in the process of tearing down his motor to freshen it up for the new season and noticed that the valves had some pitting on the top of the valve stem.....Called AFR, and was told that was a recall because of this issue. They're calling it a soft metal valve stem..AFR gave him a UPS # and said they(AFR) would take care of shipping, repairing, tear down time and fluids for this problem...Our curiosity is what if,(key word being if) we hadn't tore down the heads, would AFR had sent us or anyone with these heads the info needed to send the heads back?..AFR is taking care of the situation, but we're just wondering if anyone else is aware of this situation of the recall issue?...

I was able to send AFR just my valves, but I believe they want people sending the complete heads. Anyway, I got them back real quick. Kudos to AFR and their proactive thinking.

Guys...

Just to let you know that besides posting on this board, the Corvette Forum, Z06Vette, and the GTO board we also sent a letter to every one of our customers that purchased direct as well as all of our dealers. The problem is that we asked our dealers to contact all of their customer base (which we have no access to) and judging by a few phone calls we received and posts such as this, it seems obvious that effort wasn't put forth by everyone.

The bottom line however is we made our best effort to contact and alert everyone we could possibly reach.

Im sure this wont be the last time someone finds out after the fact, but hopefully before he has any serious issues.

Thanks,
Tony M.

Tony,
I appreciate all that you and your company have done to address this issue..When I posted this thread I tried to do a search and I didn't yield anything. I want you to know that this thread wasn't aimed at AFR or any affiliates.. We we just seeing if anyone else else has heard of this issue..When we contacted AFR, they gave us a UPS account # and said they would take care of the problem..What more could you ask for..It was when they said it was that the heads were recalled that gave us heeby jeebies..(can yo really say that?) Again, hats off to you guys for standing behind your products and giving people more reason to look at AFR...
