Default just an idea? short block over H/C

here is an idea....???
take the money you were gonna use on the H/C for close to the same you can get a short block stroker (maybe not a LS2 BUT) and reuse your heads and intake. get a used cam anything that will work with you stock heads (or get springs and a used cam that will match the lift). for now. then save for a H/C package that you real want.

this way you will get more power and TONs more TQ than you have now and you can add to it later and have more time to save for awesome parts like FAST 90/90 and AFR 225s the good stuff ya know.

if i had to do it again i would do that.

I have thought about that as well. My plan this time was to get everything track ready first, susp,tranny/converter,wheels/slicks, bolt on's, and probably spray. Then just run the dog snot out of it at the track and save the head/cam money for a built short block for when the motor tires out or I have enough cash.

Yeah, it's a good idea. I've never seen anyone do this, so I am totally pulling this one from my rear. But, if you already have stock h/c, and the stock motor would benefit from a better setup, why get an even better bottom end and choke it down so badly?

Or you could just save up untill you have enough to buy the shortblock and the other parts you need to make the new shortblock perform the way you want it too.

if most people was satisfied with 420-450 rw then the h/c only is great but no one is satisfied and that is where all the wasted money starts adding up.

That's very interesting idea. However, performance with stock heads, cam and intake is going to be worse than 346 H/C specially in the High RPM.

slow trap,

Another interesting point.

If the 346 H/C can be used later on with upgraded bottem end, that won't be a waste.

that was my plan to use my 233-239 cam and milled 30 afr205s on my 402 but after many many talks with tony mamo i was convinced to go bigger and to spend 1600 bucks on my FAST LOL..!!

i did say in my post that you could swap springs and get a cam for the moment. you could do that for like 300 i bet. 918s and a used cam!! and that with stock heads will make way more power than a 346.

I like the idea, also would be a good chance to try your hand at some home porting just for a little more cfm for cheap and if it doesnt turn out that well then its just a few dollars and a few hours of time and you could always up grade. Wish i would have done that on my first car instead of the h/c. Just my 2 cents
