Default AHHH!!!! Sometimes I hate cars..

So finally got the clutch broke in... take it out run it through a few gears (car runs freaking mean as hell with the MS4). Anyways pull up to a stop sign, its idling, drops oil pressure and starts knocking. Looks like that cam swap turned into a much bigger project. Just my way of venting, thanks for listening

That is one weird ideology.
Most poeple with 98/99/00 (especialy 98) do not want to hear when experienced poeple tell them that those big cams are not good to swap on old/high mileage motors.
well this is the result.
anyways, time for rebuilt, sounds like bearing issue.

300 miles... I dont think its a cam bearing, but I do think its A bearing. Hopefully it didnt ruin my new cam. Anyways I'm gonna try and buy this lq9 from a guy i know and maybe put a 6.0 in it. We'll see what pans out. Yeah thats the price I get for playing the game I suppose.

The reason I asked about the mileage is if you lost the o ring, assuming you did the pump at the same time, it may be the problem.

man you guys are sure giving him hell... alot of guys on stock bottom end make it longer than 300miles..

give him a break! crap happens.......... just happens to some earlier than others...

just because you get the LME shortblock doesnt mean you wont still spin a bearing!

I wasnt trying to be harsh actually.
I broke my bottom end with a 224 cam. And yes you stand a better chance of not breaking it when you use better parts and superior attention to detail during assembly.

Thats just the way it is with a big cam. The power is latent in the rpm range and there are consequences for reving a stock motor that hi all the time. It wasnt built to take that kind of abuse. But there are those who spin the crap out of them and never break their stock bottom end either so its a crap shoot. I just feel you increase your odds that much more with a bigger cam.

A forged short block built for that kind of abuse will take that kind of abuse.

ya... well I had only got into it maybe a few times... The oring was fine and it all worked good prior to blowing up. Thank god I have broad shoulders (seen more discouragement from this post then encouragement). Im no slouch, I've done my fair share of working on cars so Im not scared to build something better, and Im certainly not blaming myself. A lot of guys have run this setup with no problems.

DOUG! NOOOOOO!

I am sure you are going to build a killer this time around. You should grab a motor from Elec so you can drive it through the summer while you build the nasty one!

Jesse... Elec won't sell me that 6.0 he has ! I am going to build something if I have to take this motor apart. NO reason to build something stock if your havin the machine work done.

Don't get down...stuff happens. I had problems with my heads/cam motor (found out it was a pushed head gasket) and just happened to find a used, inexpensive, all-forged 383 for sale that fit my needs. Look around for deals and be realistic about your goals and you will end up happy.

Sounds like a spun rod bearing. I would say to just pick up a built shortblock from one of the site sponsors and just do the motor swap. You can just sell your old block like it is and put the proceeds towards your new block. Its much easier to just buy the shortblock already built since many of them are very well priced.
