Default Help!!! No Oil Pressure

I put another cam in my car last night and cranked and oil pressure read at 70 psi. I warmed it up and drove it and come back and it read about 30 psi at idle. It usually reads 40 psi at idle. Today I cranked it and reads 0. Any help appreciated. Im thinking oil pump. Give thoughts and opinions please.
Thanks

How many miles on engine. What cam was in there before and what cam did you switch to? Stock oil pump?

From what i've read the things to check are:

oil pressure sender unit
oil pump
oil pump pickup tube o-ring (if you did a re&re on this)

I would replace that old pump with a LS6 pump and if that still doesnt correct your problem then i would replace the oil sending unit like stated above. Goodluck keep us updated.

Have someone wiggle the sending unit just to make sure it's not that. I'd get back in there and check out the o-ring to see if it was pinched. You didn't reuse it did you? It's always a good idea to replace it for simple and cheap insurance.

I did not have the pump off this time. So its not the o ring. The oil sending unit was replaced when I put the 6.0 in. It just done all this overnight. It is reading absolutely 0 oil pressure. I cranked and was running fine and then I seen the oil pressure and cut it off.

HI, as stated above check the oil pressure sending switch. My friends car had a defective one. He would run the car but the gauge always read zero (please dont do that). Also check the pickup o-ring make sure it isnt pinched or just plain worn, it happens. Last but not least check your oil pump, replace it with an LS6. Good luck keep us posted.

The gauge moves when you turn the car on but does not read anything.

Yes they are known to do that. Try swapping the sending unit with a friends unit that works and you can eliminate that possibilty if it works.

Yes the check gauges light will come on because your oil pressure is at zero, so its alerting you of it.

You may have nicked the cam bearings and it could be some of the reason you have low or zero presure.. also the relief valve sprint may have gone bad in the pump?

and the usual.. the o-ring, did you remove the oil pump ?

That sucks that it broke right after you did the cam swap. At least you got it done.
