Default help on a cam for a 2.08 pp heads

Hi...

got a good deal localy on Patriot Performance heads (ls6 or ls6 style not sure) but with 2.08 intake 1.60 exhaust valves 64cc chamber barely used ...

now without flycutting what do you suggest for a cam with good street manners (A4 street driving) on a 113-115 lsa
216-230 intake duration 220-234 exhaust duration (more exhaust duration minimum 4 degrees) that will not require flycutting .... is there a cam that I can use without shimming the springs (gold duals on the PP heads) or does the cam you suggest require shimming and what size shims .... or you say stick with my tr224 cam that I find is close to stock and drives like stock and use it with either the 918`s or gold duals?

my car is a 98 A4 with a tr224 560 560 114 lsa not sure on the lca with comp 918`s stock pushrods and hand ported 806 heads (same numbers before and after porting the heads)....
with Lt,ory,cai,ls6 intake

did 329 hp 321 tq (untuned STD #`s )

on the way :
ported TB , 3 inche electric cutout before the stock muffler that I won`t change , holley air filter

thanks and sorry for that long of a thread ^_^

With a 2.08" valve, the design of the head might become a factor. If those runners aren't overly big and the chamber is only opened up for a 3.9" bore they might work well, but chances are those are some big runner heads designed for a big bore motor.

Are you saying your ported 806 heads didn't pick you up any power? Who ported them?

they might have picked up 5-10 hp topbecause I had the same numbers in a different dyno but same type (dynojet) two months eirlier (colder weather) and the air filter was new now a bit dirty ..... but race wise the car is the same or a bit slower and I did them while rebuilding my engine that broke (a local shop ported them) and it`s another block now (old one cracked near a bore) and all of that is because I said I`ll fix the leaking radiator later LoL!

any problem if the chamber is opened for a 4 inche bore?
but back to the main question what do you think if the heads is for a 3.900 bore and with that big of a valve on the stock short block without flycutting?

With a stock gasket, you could fit a 232/234 113LSA
But i would prefer a 230/230 112+0

so what`s the cam specs duration lift lsa + or - how much to custom grind it (113 or 114 for better idle no 112 for me)? having a safe ptv even if used with a .40 gasket (though I`ll use stock gaskets)?
and use what size shims or directly without shims? 7.400 pushrods?

thanks PREDATOR-Z

I`m not looking for the max cam I can put I`m looking for a smooth idle and good traffic light low rpm smoothness (that`s why 113-114 lsa) the tr224 as I said to me is just like stock that many don`t know it`s cammed when I stand beside them and even the slight lope there is it`s gone once the car is moving .... looking for something stronger with more lift .... the concerns are two ..... that big valve hitting the piston and using shims and what size if required or without shims with the gold duals 227-230 int duration is good for me just don`t know about what`s the other safe specs and asking to order and big thanks to PREDATOR-Z for his help in this board for me and others all the time but his short word replies are funny lately just saying *YES* *NO* *IT WILL* things like that might be he`s being taxed on how many letters he use hehehe

before i scrolled down to read I was thinking 228/228 or atleast no higher then 230 duration and keep lifts under .600 .I cant be specific on which cam, I'll leave that work for you. anyways, I would go with recomendation from PREDATOR only have cam lsa 114 like you want......

230/230 .590/.590 113 +2 LSA (XE-R) with stock gasket
No shims on springs and 7.425 with unmilled heads and stock gasket.
7.400 will work but might have more valvetrain noise.
