Default Will My 3.42 gear be ok for Tr224?

I think this would be a more appropriate area for this topic since it has to do with an internal engine mod. I am running 4.10's in my stock 10 bolt right now but the whine form these gears is about to drive me off the wall. I am putting my stock 3.42's back in and was curious If I am going to really lose any thing by doing this. I will be able to hook much better on the street with the 3.42's than I would with the 4.10's. I alos do alot fo roll speed racing. How much e.t loss at the track you think between these two? I don't go to the track much. My best 60 has been a 1.7 and I still think I can net that 60 on 3.42's with my bfg drags. Any input? Anyone running this combo? tr224 and 3.42's and 6 speed?

You're gonna lose a few tenths at the track; maybe .3 or .4. They work pretty awesome for street/highway applications though

I'd have to agree with Dragon. I had a 224 cam with the stock 3.42 and cut a 1.79 60 ft with 16" Nitto DR's.

But you have an automatic with a 3600 stall. With the right stall speed low gears are not necesary or can even slow the car down. His 3.42 with that 224 will go slower for sure verses a 4.10. It will help to set the cam on about a 106 ICL. That will bring the peak torque down in rpm. If you have the 112 LSA that is better than 114.

I run a 224 110lsa 106icl cam on 3.42s with a 6 speed. Oh what fun but 4.10s will net you better e.t. and trap speed.

I can relate to what larry say's about the A4s with a good converter. I figured out on my last outing that my 4.10s with my stall was killing my launch and 3rd gear effeciancy. I had a bolt on car with a smaller cam and 3500 converter with 3.73s to pull me by 2mph in 3rd gear We both ET'd almost identical but i was upset at how he went from a car behind to dead even in 3rd gear. With a M6 it is the opposite of the A4s. With 4.10s you can see up to .3 tenth gain over the 3.42s.
