Default Crane lifter preload?

Anyone know how much preload the Crane (stock replacement) lifters enjoy? I have a pushrod checker and I'm about to check the zero-lash length.

Thanks guys!

.090 is the number to shoot for.

Ok, check my work here. I've seen a few threads lately that have me scared.

I installed the cam dot to dot (advance ground into cam), and rotated the motor 'till the #1 exhaust valve was all the way open. At this point, the cam sprocket dot was at about 3:30 position and the intake valve was totally closed.

I put the pushrod checker in on the #1 intake valve and adjusted it 'till the intake rocker barely had no play in it (up and down on the valve stem).

Now the checker has 14.7 turns out @.050" each. Closed it's 6.8" long, which gives me .735 + 6.8 = 7.535"

This would mean that I need a 7.615 to 7.635 pushrod for a .080 to .100 preload correct? The car has not run since Sunday (6/16), started tearing it down yesterday for the swap. Does any of that matter? What is it you mean by hot?

Numbers look correct. The block will grow some when hot, I have seen the number 0.030 but can't confirm that it is correct. The steel won't elongate as much as the aluminum so I would think you could error on the long side of the 0.090" preload.

Well I'm using an iron block with Jesel SS rockers.

I have a set of 7.6" pushrods sitting here from my last cam (cam motion). New cam is a comp with XFI/XE-R lobes. If I threw in the 7.6" pushrods, I'd have a .065 preload, which would probably be awfully noisy right?

Update: Put the 7.600's in and its not what I'd consider "noisy", but it could probably be quieter.

Ticked a little at first, but after a little heat and a few revs it went away and sounds just like it did with the old cam.

Well it's an iron block with heads that require 7.6+" pushrods.
