what do you think re this cam?
I can get a good price on a 212/218 522/529 114 cam. I have a 2001 with a 3,600/3.73s and bolt ons (no headers) that runs 12 teens. Do you think I will pick up 4 tenths with this cam?

Topic creator, that would be a lot of work for little gains. I would at least go into the lower 220's in duration.
Did you see your own sig?
Anyways, no one told him to get a 240/246 or whatever, they just suggested to get one that will make a decent difference (like a 224).

You'll get 4 tenths with that if that is all your looking for. Plus with that lift and duration it will be fairly easy to tune for the auto as well. I plan on using the same cam in my truck, this cam puts out some good torque my dad just installed this very same cam with Dart heads and put down 393RWHP/383RWTQ with a 3.90 gears. THe curve is really nice on teh dyno sheet and this is a great cam on the street. Sure everyone is going bigger but from what I have seen this cam may not make the high reving HP numbers these bigger cams do but it damn near matches the torque. And with a stalled auto it should do you nicely. Here is the post where i posted his dyno sheet

If its cheap enough for you go for it. You'll have to replace the springs and pushrods anyway to run that cam. So if that cam is not good enough or does not perform swapping the cam in an afternoon or less is not really that big of a deal.
BTW if you do not buy that cam PM details I might.

I'm not a fan of DD cams in stock cubes but I wouldn't do 212/218 cam. Too small IMHO for the hassle etc even if someone will give you the cam.
The TR220 is the smallest cam, I'd consider. A 224 TR or 224 XE-R would be pretty good. If you don't want the ramp rates are an issue. the old 222/222 XE C1 Hammer cam might be worth thinking about. I
