Default Jesel or CompCams Shaft Rockers?

I'm wondering what kind of experience people have had with Jesel and CompCams shaft rocker arms for the LS engines.

Both are very close in price. Both are from good companies.
I tend to favor the Jesel Sportman series as they have a 1.75 ratio.
Low maintenance is important to me.
Is it reasonable to expect 20,000 miles from these?
It looks like one set or the other will go on ET255 heads.

Pictures below.

Give me your feedback please!

Neither one will fit the ET series heads. T&D Machine Products appear to me to be the manufacture's for the Comp Cam shaft mounts. They look identical side by side to each other when you have them in your hands(I know another shop with a set of the Comp Cam shaft mounts). But unfortunately they do not fit the ET heads, I tried, but I am having to have a custom base built by T&D for the heads. The Jesel SS shaft mounts won't work either. I have both the Jesel SS & the T&D Machine shaft mount system's. I prefer the T&D shaft mounts, they appear to be the better built units to me. Also the Jesel SS series will only clear a 1.29" valve spring pocket(1.46" pocket my ***,that was what I was told when I bought mine). The T&D shaft mounts will clear up to a 1.55" spring dia.

I had the Comp shaft mount 1500's 1.7 with the set up in my sign. I had valve float show up on the dyno at about 5500 and at 6400 completly shut the cardown. I thought it was the revlimiter at first. Since went back to the stock rockers.

What valve springs are you running?

have you looked at the crane version? i have the crane shaft mount rockers on my 408 motor. been 2200 miles with no issues. quiet as well. you will have to modify the heads and use valve cover spacers to get them to fit.

pics of it all here

They still will not fit the ET Performance heads. They are very nicely made and look great, but they were made for a stock cylinder head mounting point. Nice write up on your engine build!!

I have the Comp Cams #1500 and dual springs in my CTS-V.

1. Needed to add a 1/2 inch spacer (from JEG'S) even after I ground off every boss and barrier in the valve cover.

2. Needed to open up the pushrod holes as the pushrods were scrapping on the hole, as the ratio was the same (1.7) but the pushrod needed to be about .3 shorter then stock which changed it's position.

No valve float and runs very good.

So much so that I have another set to put in my Vette.

Comps are T&Ds. There is a set made for the ET/RHS style head(#1509). It won't work with the 265 offset stuff, but works in the 245 style.

Do you know when it will be available? The Comp web site doesn't reconize that part number.

yeah i seen your comments before on them. i'm going to be running the pro series on my LS7 heads soon. shaft rockers for the street are way overkill in my opinion, but some people just got to have them. good luck at the track, i'm sure you will be joining the 10 second club soon.

Pay attention and make sure everything is right with the valvetrain with those heads. Its easy to make a 6000 rpm motor that falls apart with them because the valvetrain is so heavy. We are turning hyd rollers lil past 8K with them, spring choice and valvetrain setup definitely needs more attention to detail than most other LS castings

Call T&D. They gave me their part number, and contacted Thunder Racing for the transaction.

LME uses and has had excellent results with the Crower shaft rocker system on ET cathedral port cylinder heads. They are made specifically for the ET 225 through 255 valve spacing and geometry. Crowers are adjustable and have needle bearings in the roller tip. This is an upgrade in the Jesel. The rocker stand is nicely machined and comes with good hardware.. They have a slightly smaller diameter shaft that ties the two rockers together. However they are proven with solid roller spring pressures exceeding 780 lbs open. Defiantly good for any hyd. roller.

The Crowers are nice pieces and come in a few hundred under the Jesel Pro Series.

Just an option.
