Default what is the best oil pump??

was wondering what everybody is running for a pump, and also what balancer is a good one? Is a stock ls2 or 6 pump adequate? I only plan on spinning around 6500 rpm.

I am not certain which is “best”. I installed an LS6 pump (~$80 shipped) I ported and shimmed.

Most common is probably a ported ls6 pump.

Melling. +10 psi, +15% volume over stock. Costs less than the SLP ported stocker too .

i saw on speed incs website that if you use the slp pump with a asp balancer you have to modify the balancer, is this right. Does the melling pump matter what balancer you use?? i have not bought a balancer yet, just curious. on another note the engine i just got when i pulled it out of the crate i noticed that the end of the crank snout was messed up so i called the guy and he said he peens all of them or the aftermarket balancers have a tendancy to walk. dont know if it will hurt anything, just a little concering.

Volume is what's needed, not pressure, as long as it at least maintains factory pressure right?

True. A stocker is plenty for most applications.

I am not going to debate you, but I always thought the solution to high LDL cholesterol levels was to increase sodium intake to raise blood pressure and keep that sludge in my blood vessels moving along.

Is yours ported? I see them in thunder racings web site, and for an additional $75 you can get it ported.I may be swapping my cam out and thought about putting in a melling.I heard good things about them.I have aported ls6,but i figure while I'm there why not put a new pump.Ive looked at the mellings, but did not know if i would need aported version like the ones thunder offers or just a non ported melling will do fine
