Default Strange oil pressure problem...need suggestions

Working on a motor and its having a strange oil pressure problem. As of now, its getting about 15-20psi at idle (950-1000rpms) and will raise to about 40psi @ 3k+. Now i know first thing you will say is the pinched oring. Or a bad pressure sensor.

Well heres whats been done so far.

changed the oring 5x with the pump on the motor - same pressure

changed the pump to a GMPP pump with new oring - same pressure

changed back to a stock pump (that was working fine when taken off a previous motor) and a new oring. this time put the tube on the pump on the bench. then put the assembly on the motor. - same pressure

Changed the sending unit 2x. - same pressure

i did notice on the last swap that there was a few drops of oil from between the oil pan and the bellhousing (M6). Only thing i can think of with this is the rear main seal is leaking but i dont think that would cause a pressure problem.

any suggestions?

The only other thing I would suggest is fresh oil and a new filter.

isn't this when you start thinking... spun bearing...??

or maybe you pulled a "I left a rag in the engine somewhere" trick...

o-ring is my first bet.

Did you switch to a double roller timing chain? I think they need spacers put in a certain way else they may block the passage...?

Leaving a rag in the engine is a possibility. I didn't even think of that one.

well this was a motor that was stock when i got it (and was told it ran fine with 40k or so on it). Put on some 06 243s and a vindicator cam. Ever since i fired it up its had this problem.

yeah im starting to think its a bearing...but there is no metal in the pan.

nope....no rag in the pan. i wish it was that easy.

not the oring....its been changed numerous times...with the pump/tube on and off the car.

stock LS2 chain....

Go fish....
