Default Oil press too high after cam/head install

Press builds to over 100psi and the oil filter seal blows out. I nstalled a ported z06 oil pump trex cam z06 heads arp rod bolts. Anything I can look for on this to fix the problem? I am thinking its a oil filter issue???

sounds like you have a defective pump where the internal bypass is not working correctly. What weight oil are you using?

Yea definatly change that out first then go from there. I personally like K&N oil filters.

Could be a stuck bypass valve/spring in the pump.

Another vote for it being the pump.

I agree with these guys must be the pump, i doubt it has anything to do with your oil filter. I run a K&N by the way, with Mobil 1 5W-30.

Thanks for the input guys. I removed the oil pump to find the bypass corroded to the inside of the pump. I emailed brian at speed inc so we'll see what happens. I reinstalled the stock pump and all is well. My factory pump was in perfect shape so I told him I just want a refund. What a way to spend 5 hours taking everything back apart and my garge is a mess, oil everywhere.

You lucky, usually there are more cases of the pump's bypass valve will get stuck open and leave you without any oil pressure.
