changed 1 rocker... noise for a couple seconds... then fine
just like the title says.. i swapped the cylinder 5 exhaust rocker, torqued it right, lubed it right, filled the engine with mobil 1 5w30, and started it up. it was noisy for a few seconds. i freaked out, and shut it off after about 5 seconds. my dad said to try it again, so i did and the noise was gone. it sounds fine now. test drove it and all seemed great. what happened?
im in the process of pulling the cover again to make sure all is well.

well, i pulled the covers and didn't see anything obviously wrong. im still worried that something could have happened where the pushrod meets the rocker, but i lubed it with engine assembly lube, as i did the spring side. i just worry too much i guess. its been running great today

If you think one rocker is noisy try replacing all of them plus the pushrods and lifters. Now that's noisy. It takes a little while for the lifters to pump up. Until they do the pushrod is being slapped back and forth between the lifter and the rocker cup. After the lifters pump up the slack goes away and the noise disappates. This is normal.
