Default Rolmaster double row and timing cover wont fit

Im just trying to get this motor going and ran into a problem.

Ive got the rollmaster double row timing chain with the spacer. What do I need to do to make the timing cover fit now?

Thanks!

what kind of oil pump are you using?

Melling? If so do a search.

Its the regular Melling pump. I snugged it on up and although it is hard against the pump body it does tighten up enough to seat the gasket. I guess ill leave it at that.

with earlier timing covers you typically have to do some clearancing work, when using melling with spacers.

i have a roll master and a melling pump. be prepared to grind the living hell out of the inside of the timing cover and the pump. i tested and grinded the timing cover so much that ended up grinding a tiny hole in it. i had to get a used cover on ebay. i then grinded the pump some and started in on the new cover. finally got it to fit.

dont forget to do all your test fitting of the timing cover with the gasket in place. that was my mistake last time. the gasket thickness takes up a lot of grinding room.

hope this helps.
