so this pump is made to run factory pressure or i can change the spring and it will increase 5psi under high rpm so should i leave it stock or more pressure i heard more pressure will decrease hp?

You'll never notice the hp loss, it is negligible. If you run 55-60lbs hot at 1600-2000 rpm I would leave it stock. If less prolly run the spring. Mine runs about 45hot so I am gonna run the high pressure spring on my Melling.

You are about where I am then OP wise. I like better OP as my 99 Z-71 truck with 175k idles what my LS1 runs at 2k rpm (45 psi) but there are many vaiables. We are both well within the safe zone so I don't think too much about it though I wish my ls1 idled 45psi (70k miles on T/A vs. 175k on truck) and ran 55psi like my truck at 1500rpm but it doesn't matter, lots of variables. You (we) are both ok and well within healthy specs so just keep your oil changed and it will last a long time!!!!!!

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the SLP HD oil pump their version of the Melling? If so, I would stay with the 5W-30 but if you have the optional blue shim remove the red shim and install the blue in its place. (This is assuming it is the Melling pump).

The Melling is the opposite, it comes with the higher pressure spring installed and you must install the stock pressure spring.

The SLP pump is a Melling, modified to clear dual roller timing chains.
