Best Head and Cam Package?
Ok, I have been doing a ton of research and have called several companies on what head and cam package I want to run. There are several combos that I have been leaning toward but...I just cant make up my mind. The car is an 02 TA A4 with a Yank SS3600 and stock gears. The car is not a daily driver but I want to get the most power and still be able to take it on a road trip if I desire. It will also see plenty of strip duty. The goal is to make it a very fast street/strip car. I am also planning to spray with at least a 100 shot. There are just so many companies with great claims but want some ideas on proven performance. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Find a vendor who sells complete packages like Thunder Racing, LG Motorsports, Texas Speed, MTI, Vengeance, Cartek, or any others that you trust and have them cook you up something. All of these companies have produced heads/cam vehicles with excellent street manners making over 480 rwhp. It only takes money. Best to buy a complete package from a single vendor.

Whats important to you? Dyno numbers? Quarter mile times? Just fun on the street? Look what people are running and who is running the numbers... and look what they are running. Patrick has excellent advice. Sticking with a single vendor as much as possible usually results in the best overall performance and usually better product support.

the reason i say 460 for my friends car is because of the cars i can compare it to, its a rough estimate but i have friends with fbodys with anywhere between 350 and 450 to the wheels and hes faster than all of them. i definately dont have an exact number but thats a reasonable assumption and he hits 120 in the quarter

or
-TSP 228R cam
-PRC 2.5 LS6 heads make good power.
Does anyone have experience with the Trick Flow package?

This seems to be a nice complete kit but I have not talked to anyone who has used it.

Damn I was just going to say go with TSP if your going package deal anything. Personally I would get my cam from Thunder Racing after a Predator Z or Patrick G spec'ing. Maybe you could get Thunder to match a TSP combo price...dunno? Good Luck!

So...I called Thunder Racing and after the in depth conversation on my needs for the car we made a decision:
-ET Performance 215 Head
-TR 227 xTREME Camsahft 227/227 .639/.639 116 LSA.
And, all the necessary gaskets including ARP studs, pushrods, ect.
This combo consistantly makes 430+ RWHP on A4 cars. Shane at Thunder Racing was outstanding and very helpful. I couldn't ask for better customer service. I think I will be very happy with my choice and if anyone else is in the market for a heads and cam package, I highly advise giving Thunder Racing a call before you buy anywhere else.

Well...I went a little over what I had budgeted, but it was well worth it. Total: $3623. I decided quality over economy was the better choice. I learned alot about the "cheaper stuff" along with inconsistent performance and false claims.

I really don't agree with the false claims and "cheaper" stuff with inconsistent performance. I went with texas speed, ms3 and prc 2.5 5.3's. Through a loose converter and an o.k. tune I made 410 rwhp. I also spray 150 shot and went 10.84@126 my very first time at a track, bouncing off the rev limiter on 1-2 shift. Car drives great and gets 22 mpg. My package was only $2200 which left me alot of extra money to buy other things. You would have $1400 to spend on other go fast parts, Cams are all about the same price, are the heads making that much more power to justify spending another grand? I went budget and am very happy, even a budget nitrous system and made 560 rwhp!
