Default quickie guys, which valve springs with my cam??

hey guys patrick G recomended this cam for me, 226/232 .609/.604 113LSA
now, which valve springs will go good with this setup? i will be buying this most likely from thunder racing (which ever is most preferred) but for sure i want to make sure they are dual valve springs, and i will be running this in california and it will be a cam only car! thanks guys

I'd suggest some of the new 918s that are good up to .625 lift. Patriot golds are some of the best dual springs out there. You could use them for a piece of mind, but the 918s will be fine and lighter.

he spec'd me a cam with .609/.600 lift and i told him i wanted to run a safe setup and he recommended Patriot Gold Extremes which are good to .660 lift. Also heard a lot of good things about the patriot golds as well which are good to .650 lift.

If it's on XER lobes, stay away from 918. You will need dual springs. This is what I learned from Patrick G.

I compared it to my lobe list. It looks to be on XFI lobes. I'd still suggest the 918s as they are a really nice lightweight setup. If I had the choice between the extremes and normal Patriot springs I'd use the normal golds. I doubt you plan on revving this thing to 7k every day. The extra seat pressure is nice, but comes at an escalated wear rate on the rest of your valvetrain components. The normal Patriot golds will work just fine and give you a piece of mind against breakage being a dual spring.

yea thanks for the opinions guys but i dont think i will go with the 918 springs! i have seen to many failures on this site! i know i wont take the engine to 7k but i want it to be higher then stock 6200 but my main concern is the life of the springs an mostly realiability! is very important! so the patriot gold extremes! i guess!

That was due to a bad batch of springs. The new redesigned springs are even stronger. I wish people wouldn't knock them based on a few incidents, but that's what always happens. There's no publicity like negative publicity.

The patriot gold kit comes with titanium retainers.
