Default LS1 push rods question

Has anyone ever heard of the stock LS1 push rods bending after hitting the rev limiter? If so can you explain why.

I know the stockers will bend when 6k-6300rpm are hit a few times.

simple..because they are weak. stock pushrods dont like anything higher then 6600. also just fatigue can cause bends

My rev is set at 6300RPM's. I am not sure but I may have bent one.

Are you hearing them? Get some chrome moly hardened from comp cams for like 98 bucks. Good pushrod.

I am getting ready to do a heads and cam swap and have new chrome moly ones for then but and just wondering. I don't think I am hearing a push rod knock but and not sure yet. I hit the rev limiter pretty hard this past weekend at the track. The car is running pretty crappy but is showing some codes now that point to something else.

You very well could have bent a pushrod, or broken a valve spring. Both are common issues. Are you getting a misfire code?

Did you just miss a shift or did you do the 2-3-2 shift?

I am getting a misfire in multi cylinders with a lean in banks 1 and 2 code. The car has a TH350 with a manual valve body. The shift from 1st to 2nd was a little late and it hit the rev limiter and about shut the car off. It was pretty hard, I have never done that before. But the car was already running crappy and it didn't get any worst after that happened.

Well I can't be 100% sure that it was not a push rod but today I changed the old TR6 plugs out and put some new TR5's in and new Holly 8mm wires and the car seems to be running great.

Well after a couple of days the car started having the multi cylinder misfire code again. I hook it up to the laptop and took it out for a ride. It showed misfires in all cylinder but mostly in number 3. I can now hear a weird sound from the top side of the motor like a valve train problem. I do now think I broke a Pushrod and most likely number 3 or a spring. I am gonna tear the valve covers off tomorrow or Thursday and pull the old Pushrods and replace them with Chrome Moly hardened Pushrods.

That's a good idea. Inspect your valve springs while you are in there especially if you don't find any bent pushrods, sometimes one can be broken but hard to spot.

Not necessarily...I've had my rev limiter set to 6350 RPM for the better part of a year, and have hit that mark more than a few times. I just pulled all of the pushrods to check them, and they are all still straight. No broken valve springs, no nothing.

Well I will find out here in a little while and I hope it is just a pushrod and not a valve spring.

Well I pulled the valve covers off to find no broken springs or any bent pushrods. I went ahead and replaced the push rods with the new ones. The car doesn't seem to run much different, but I will hook it up to the computer Thursday after I get off work and see if the misfires have gotten any better. Anyone else have any more input as to what else could be going on here.
