Default Looking for parts???

A buddy of mine has a 02 vette and he's wanting to build or buy a motor for it. Where can I find parts for this motor? What can be done to it? Can it be bored and stroked to a 402 or is a 383 the biggest you can go with the stock ls1 motor? Thanks guys.

Surely someone has built a motor in here?

Have him go to a 383 kit. He has a good LS1 engine. 383 and a good set of heads/LT's/Cam/intake,etc. and he is ready to go. Does he have a A4 or M6?

There is a lot he can do to these motors. Look at some of the sticky's at the top of this section. A lot of good info in there.

Good luck.

What mods does he already have? I would do a stall as a first mod. A stall really wakes up an A4. I love mine.

FYI: The LS1 can not be bored out or very little. Most people do a stroker 383 or a 403 stroker or go to a different block. I would love to go to a 403.

i belive that the guy from six speeds inc who set the NA LS1 M6 record uses a 418 cubic inch motor. So that means that you can go to 418 or maybe even more.

Going as big as a 418 wouldn't cause problems with the cooling? He's got some kind of ram air intake pipe on it, Corsa catback, longtubes, a custom tune and 125 wet shot. He will be getting a stall eventually. He really wants to build his motor and install a good cam first though. There is a really good machinist around here that said he'll work the heads and build a custom cam for the car for 1500 dollars. Do you guys think he should go that route? or buy an aftermarket cam and leave the stock heads on there? Me and him both have always had mustangs so we don't know **** about these motors. He just got his and I'm trying to sell the mustang to get me one. Just with the stuff he's got now minus the longtubes, there not installed yet, his car runs low 7s in the 1/8th which amazed me.
