Default f14 or f14 HIGHLIFT?

wondering the HIGHLIFT F14 is worth it or should i go with the regular F14? HIGHLIFT should be good for about 10 more HP. will stock heads need to be flycut? how much faster will it wear out valve springs with the higher lift? i had some other threads about this but no one answered. i just need some feedback so i make the right choice. anything will help. thanks

FMS-F14- 232"/234" .598"/.598" 112LSA - aggressive profile with a 2600-7000 RPM range

FMS-F14-HIGHLIFT- 232"/234" .646"/.612" 112LSA - aggressive profile with a 2600-7000 RPM range

If it were me I would buy/get the regular F14, the Comp Cams 921 duel springs that you will be recomended to run or something as good are only rated at 650 lift and with either cam your going to have a duel spring and to spin the motor 6500 to 7000 RPM power range, in your signiture you dont show any ported stock heads or aftermarket ones and the stock head doesnt flow enough past 600 lift to need the high lift in my opion to need the high lift and the valve spring eater. Good Luck in your choice.

I say go with the high lift. It makes more power and even with stock heads will do so. The extra lift does not really change the low end numbers of the cam either.

I have the highlift. I was originally going to go with the regular F14, but at the last minute decided to go with the highlift version. I don't drive the car all that much, so I figured the springs would last a little longer. I'm running duals good to .660. I made 395rwhp/387rwtq corrected, through a catback, n2o plugs, and last but not least, stock 806 heads. Uncorrected numbers were over 400. Not bad for a budget setup with **** heads IMO. I'm planning on throwing on a set of stock 243s to help it out a little. The cam stopped making power around 6400 for me, so I wouldn't expect to need to spin it to the moon like you might think. If you have any other specific questions, ask away.

I wish I could have had both to be able to say what difference there is, I have the HL version. My numbers peaked at 6200 with Dart 225 heads, unmilled (couldn't due to overlap). There are so many factors that determine what a cam is going to do, unfortunately, it's pretty complicated IMO, so most only disclose what sells most people. Duration, lift, LSA.

i will be running patriot gold extreme springs good to 660 lift. right now i have stock heads but i might be gettin some stock 243's from a buddy of mine or going with some aftermarket heads later on. if i do, it will be at least 2 months or more after the cam is in.

i know its hard to say, but about how much life will the HIGHLIFT cut short compared to the reg? also, would stock heads need to be flycut with the highlift? anybody got any F14 HIGHLIFT sound clips?

The HighLift version fits without flycutting.

Since your car is a daily driver, I would probably stick with the regular sized F14...

Having that extra lift is just going to make your stock motor, rocker arms, and dual valvesprings have work that much harder and wear that much quicker..

Whenever, just give me a call sometime..

Are you going to have to get bigger injectors if you get that bigger cam?

If you are seriously considering getting heads, why don't you just do it right the first time and get a head/cam combo? It will probably be cheaper too..

Here is a video clip of the F14:

Alan said the highlift cam would not cause valvespring failure anytime soon, as in less than 50,000 miles. I asked him about the lift vs spring wear before I bought mine.
