Default +.050" installed height retainers?

Doing a custom app with a set of ls6 yellow/ls2 springs.

I need about .040-.050" more installed height and cannot find a retainer that will work for the life of me.

Does anyone know who makes one or am I stuck with milling the spring seat?

Tried a manley #23621 but its for a dual spring (I think) and the I.D. was .670" and I need a .600"

Sorry if this has been answered previously, there is like 200 pages of posts with "retainer" and "installed height" in them.

The Manleys are the only ones I know of that offer factory or +.050. The Manley springs are decent so you may consider going with them, I had good luck in the past.

However, I'm curious what your setup is and why you need the extra .050" though. The stock seat pressure on the LS6 springs is somewhere around 115lbs (if I remember correctly), and adding the .050" will probably drop that below 100lbs seat pressure. What cam are you going with? Any more info on the setup?

Are you trying to tighten up the spring pressure ? If so just get some valve spring shims that goes under the spring seats. Custom (stock) retainers would be very hard to find if they even make them . But i know they make a titanium retainer that are custom cut for the after market LS style springs.

adding .050" to the installed height means instead of 1.800" from the spring seat to the bottom of the retainer, it would be 1.850", and hence, less seat pressure. thats why he asked if machining the spring seats was the only option he had besides custom retainers.....either that or sink the valves into the heads .050" which I wouldn't do for several reasons.

It is a ford e7te head (generic 87-93 mustang) . . .

gt40 valves stock length and my installed height right now is in the 1.540" range.

I got the springs for $20, just trying to see if I can get them to work.

I am not at the shop right now but the seat pressure is in the high #120s if I recall.

I called crane yesterday and the guy didn't know what he was talking about, he didn't believe me that 8mm retainers fit a 11/32" stem/locks . . .

oh and the cam is a FRPP "f-cam", run of the mill SADI cam. 226/226 @ .050" .512" lift, 114lsa

if your ok with mixing 11/32 retainers with 8mm valves then com cams makes a +.050 retainer 787-16. I would call them and confirm, but im pretty sure this is a +.050 retainer.

thats what I figured . . . I think the 4v mod motor ford stuff will work.
Seems their "C" measurement is the same.
