Arrow need opinions and advise please

my car started ticking pretty loud and i had a lot of people tell me it was an exhaust leak, so i changed the gaskets and tightened everything up and for the life of me couldnt find an exhaust leak. so i took the car to a local shop and they told me the ticking is from a lifter. well since you have to take the heads off to replace the lifters i was thinking about getting a head/cam package. but i have an A4 so if i got a cam i would have to get a stall. all of that is a pretty hefty price. so im lost and trying to figure out if i should get a cam and stall and just put the stock heads back on. or just get a set of heads. i know when something goes wrong it is the prime time to upgrade, but i really dont have an adbundant amount of money for everything. any advise and/or opinions would greatly be apreciated! also sorry if this is the wrong section.

Well if you dont have the money to do a heads, cam and stall, then do a cam and stall. Cause if you do heads and cam with no stall then you most likely are going to hurt your performance unless you go with a small duration cam. A good setup would be something like a tr 224 and a 3600 stall. Hope that will help you out a lil bit.
