FYI: AFR is releasing some LS1 heads real soon
i dont know if this is old news to you guys, but its new to me. i emailed AFR asking if they had plans to make LS1 heads and this was their reply:
they'll probably be really expensive (as all their products are), but i bet they'll flow like no other. probably intended more towards the "big cam/big cubic inches" people. we'll find out in a few months
Arturo....
Good news for you today.....Yes, the rumor is true and it will be an incredible leap over what is currently available using the stock GM head (even the ported LS6 castings). We expect to feature the product at SEMA this year and hope to start shipping product late this year, or by January of 2004. Check back with us towards the tail end of the year....We will probably start taking deposits sometime around Thanksgiving. Some ads should be hitting the magazines shortly, so you might want to keep an eye out for them....
Hope this helps you out...

I am expecting their prices to be reasonable, just a matter of seeing results.

Thank god, maybe with the already great for the dollar head out there, and these, GTP and the other uber-porter heads will become a little more realistically prices. Or I can at least get a set of used ones for cheap, like all the LS6 manifolds will be for sale soon, when F.A.S.T. LSx comes out

That's great. I had planned on looking at Heads first quarter of next year. AFR is top quality in my book.

I'm amazed. Having grown up around small blocks, the flow numbers we have in stock heads are amazing. Ported heads are fantastic. I am sure that AFR will do some great things. But please realize that the flow numbers we have gotten are light years ahead of where head technology was just a few years ago. To get a set of heads to flow 300cfm was a pretty huge deal, and the cost of porting stock iron heads rivals what you pay now, and that was almost 20 yrs ago. Imagine today paying someone $5000 in todays dollars to get a head that started flowing in the low 200s to flow in the 260-280 range and being thrilled... Just realize, we have come a long way. But, 500RWHP H/C cars are not that far off either.
