Default lifters-best bang for the buck

im getting ready to swap my cam and heads, prob should change my lifters also-when i built my engine (lq4-forged rods/pistons, z06 cam, 317 heads w/springs) i used my old lifters, seemed to be in good cond.
since i dont know the milage on them, and everything else is new, now is the time to switch
looking for the best one on a budget, dont really plan on spinning it much over 6200-would stock replacement lifters be ok, or an aftermarket set thats not thru the roof-thanks

LS7's are the best bang for buck. Morels are going to be your high end lifter but they are sweet.

Default swapping shortblock- did i miss anything?

Hi there
i've decided to get a new shortblock to replace my damaged bottom end ls1. looks like i'm going for the weber stage 2 deal
http://weberracing.net/Engine-Type-G...duct_info.html

i intend swapping over my heads, rockers, valvetrain, pushrods etc. i've asked for an uprated oil pump with the short motor, ls2 timing chain kit, LS7 lifters, plus a GM headgasket set and ARP head bolts. i'll swap over the timing covers, water pump and other ancilliaries from the od block to the new. (other gaskets etc all fairly new)

my ls1 heads are stock, valve springs/retainers are comp cams, i have pushrods in 7.4" and 7.425" and a 220/220 cam which i intend to reuse if unmarked.

have i missed any hardware or bits needed to do the swap?
thanks

All LS based engines use the same lifters. The LS9 is the only exception.

Valve Lifters & Components
12499225
LS Series Camshaft Lifter Kit (not shown)
• Set of 16 lifters for LS series engines
• Same lifter used in LS2 and LS7

17803305
Lifter Guide Kit

• Includes lifter guides and 4-bolts
• Makes for quick and easy cam swaps without having to
remove the intake manifold, valley plate or heads
• Works in Gen III and IV applications (except with AFM)

D. 88958689
Racing Hydraulic Roller Lifter Kit

• As developed by GM Racing and GM Powertrain
• For use in Gen III and Gen IV engines where sustained
high rpm’s are typical
• Special reduced-mass internal components allow for
higher limiting speeds with aggressive camshaft designs
• Improved valvetrain dynamics and stability will improve
horsepower, and high rpm’s
• Tested to 8000 rpm in GM Racing applications
• Set of 16

You need to match your valve train componants and not by budget. This is one item that really needs to be looked closely at: hi rpms, hi spring pressure.. What are your intentions. The ls7's are the least expensive. The Morel is expensive but carries a great reputation. Its a personal choice and budget decision.

No, the LS9 uses the same lifter as the LS7, LS2, LS3,L76 and every other non DOD LS engine plus a couple of V6 engines.

Ya LS7's are the best bang for the buck. I mean seriously $100 for an OEM GM part that goes into a Zo6? I think I made the right choice for my forged 347 .
